Hidden Grief: Facing the Grief We Didn’t Know We Had
Few of us can say we haven’t lost loved ones. Just as few can say they fully grieved the losses they have experienced. We intellectualize our pain, justifying our ignoring it, rationalizing that others have it worse than we do. We quickly and quietly go back to work and our daily routines to avoid the pain and move on. And because we intellectualize death rather than allowing the grieving process to run its course, many feel they don’t know what to do to grieve and heal from their loss.
Grief impacts every area of our lives: how we connect with others, how we function at work, and our ability to stay present. Even our health is affected by grief.
After a loss, we begin to function in time. Often going through the motions of life, not fully living. We push our grief aside in order to move on. But that unhealed grief will at some point rear its ugly head and knock you down. Unhealed grief affects everything. Unfortunately, most of us are unaware we have unhealed grief until something else comes along and knocks us off course. While we may consciously want to avoid the pain of grieving, it is a very human experience that is unavoidable.

The truth is, we often underestimate how grief facilitates spiritual deepening, personal growth, and mental resilience.Healing our grief is something we alone must do. And there is no cookie-cutter, correct way to do it. The healing journey is unique for each of us.
Join us Sunday, January 11, 2026 at The Althea Center, where we explore your hidden grief. Stay for the workshop on healing our hidden grief afterwards.

Here’s a glimpse of what we will do in the grief workshop
*Explore your hidden grief
*Be open to the presence of your loss
*Embrace the uniqueness of your grief
*Recognize your actual beliefs
*Learn to love yourself and honor your journey in grief

This event is for ALL genders to attend

Come sing your heart's devotion to the divine feminine as we chant solely Goddess chants all evening! This will be led by several female kirtan leaders and musicians from our Colorado kirtan community.
Kirtan is also known as Bhakti Yoga or the Yoga of Devotion. We are offering traditional kirtan in the simple call and response style of chanting ancient and blissful mantras. The mantras are set to live music played on (mostly) traditional Indian instruments with easy to follow lyrics. These are lively, energetic and uplifting. Come sing and dance and open to pure joy! No experience necessary, all are welcome.
